Winds blowing sky high

As the year 2020 has deferred us from our daily lives; albeit to varying degrees, it leaves us with time to embark upon newer and fresher reflections. So much was lost and so much was found. Everyone had their personal battles to fight and dilemmas to overcome. We were all hoping for a brighter new year. Perhaps it was for some.

I have had a wonderful time simply recalling memories and recounting them with my friends (online, of course).

This brings on my latest epiphany: we remain so engrossed in busy schedules that we forget to sit back and recall. We always listen to the importance of taking a break or relaxing, but other than that it also helps me to recall special memories from before.

This memory is from the autumn of 2019 and our trip to Los Angeles, California. I love traveling. Meeting different people and watching different cultures, gives me a deep sense of contentment. I have always preferred the outdoors to indoors (despite my love for reading.)

I was thinking about my time in Disneyland when I remembered our little ferris wheel adventure. My eyes had been glued on the churros cart for quite some time which was making my mom a little nervous, I think, because she easily distracted me by pointing at the huge wonder.

A poem I wrote in memory of the day:

I recall the day

when I clambered up the sky

the brilliance that dotted bay

and the winds blowing high

The sky was a soft coral

the sun a dazzling orange

fluffy white clouds sprinkled

a shower of wintry flakes

Birds glided unabashedly

leaving magic in their wake

I flew without wings freely

The world was mine to take

Moonlight soon approached

the bay glistened in it’s sparks

the shores lapped gently so

a skyward journey embarked

When it was night the stars swelled

glittery balls of light within arm’s reach

If I could stretch my hand far, well,

I would feel their ensnaring heat

Like upside down city lights

beautiful when dusk is due

I could see the whole town alight

with the magic the wheel brewed

Finally, here’s a quote from one of the best literature works to ever grace mankind:

โ€œBut in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.โ€
